*8/7/2009:  WWII USO Remembrance Day.  6p to 9p at the Solomons, MD boardwalk pavilion.  Live and original music from the era.  Dance.  Donuts and coffee.  Wreath laying ceremony.  This family-friendly, free summer evening event is to honor those who served in WWII as well as other periods.  We believe it is important to educate the public, especially our youth, about the significance of WWII to our history.  We also want to honor all those who served and are serving our country in uniform and as home front heroes and heroines.

*10/24/2009:  Women Moving Forward conference for women re-entering society from the MD Correctional Institute for Women (MCI-W).  This important conference equips women with the tools to re-enter society as productive citizens, to re-unite with their families and to re-engage in their communities as healthy and stable individuals.  It is the second year for this event.  The Circle participated in the highly successful inaugural conference last year.  The participants were engaged and very appreciative.

*12/5/2009:  The Circle intends to be a sponsor for this inaugural symposium hosted by the MD Commission for Women to educate the public, particularly single mothers, about strategies to prevent foreclosure and to overcome poverty.  Watch for more details.

*1/16/2010: The Circle promotes the exposure of youth to art, and what better way to do it than the Celtic Society of Southern Maryland's Robert Burns Supper.  This event is filled with the arts and history; poetry, culinary tradition, song and dance.  The evening begins at 5:30p and celebrates Scottish traditional music and the poetry of Scotland's most celebrated poet, Robert Burns.  Watch for more details.  Go to www.cssm.org for more information about the Celtic Society of Southern Maryland.

*1/21/2010: Calvert County Mentoring Partnership (CCMP) is hosting their 4th Annual National Mentoring Month Breakfast.  Meet others in the community who are helping young men and women. If you are a company interested in mentoring, join us to see what others are doing.  Everyone needs someone to look up too. It may be you!

*4/19/2010: The CCMP will host Job Shadow Day for the third year.  This important and ever-expanding event pairs a middle school student with a local business or organization for a day of mentoring on the job.  Make plans now to be part of this important event.  Watch for more information on how to be part of Job Shadow Day!

*Spring 2010: The Circle of Angels wants to promote reenacting to educate the public about history.  We have found that mentoring happens naturally when people are having fun.  Our future goal is to schedule encampments in our area and to bring back a popular WWII reenactment event.  If you would like more information about reenacting, visit www.wereenact.net

*Ongoing: The Circle has a display of items for sale at Pack N Ship, Dunkirk, MD, located in the Safeway shopping center.  Stop by to shop.  Drop off your donation check or mail it to P. O. Box 7, Friendship, MD 20758.  Cash is also gratefully accepted.  Drop off your sponsorship for the WWII USO Remembrance Day event, advertisement in the program or honor a loved one in the program for the WWII USO Remembrance Day.  We are building the Store page to include more information.

*Ongoing: Videotaping and audio taping for the Library of Congress Veterans Living History project.  Email or call the Circle for an appointment.  We want to film veterans and home front heroes and heroines who served at any time.  Appointments will be made at the WWII USO Remembrance Day August 7, 2009.  See above.

*Future: The Circle of Angels is developing two new projects which have the working titles of Web for All and Mutual Aid Housing.  Watch for more information on these two exciting innovative programs.

*Future: Formatting the handbook called the Daughters of Abraham, Luke 13:10.  This book will be for faith leaders to learn how to facilitate a group for women who want to overcome issues of domestic violence.
